General comments
Bij gebruik Riamet: Follow-up na behandeling geïndiceerd op dag 8 en 14 na start behandeling i.v.m. risico op post-therapeutische hemolytische anemie en op dag 28 na start behandeling i.v.m. risico op recrudenscentie
Meldingsplichtige ziekte groep C
Mefloquine: contraïndicaties: psychiatrische stoornissen en convulsies in de familie-anamnese. Gelijktijdig gebruik met kinine, kinidine en chloroquine kan electrocardiografische afwijkingen veroorzaken en kans op convulsies verhogen (mefloquine toedienen 12 uur na staken van kininetherapie); gelijktijdig gebruik met diverse anti-epileptica (o.a. fenobarbital, fenytoïne) kan convulsies veroorzaken.
