Bij een artritis van een natief gewricht kan onder voorwaarden worden volstaan met 1 week intraveneuze therapie. De voorwaarden zijn: er heeft chirurgische drainage of spoeling van het gewricht plaatsgevonden, er is een adequate orale optie beschikbaar, de patiënt is immuuncompetent en er is voldoende vertrouwen in de mate van therapietrouw van de patiënt.
